As we look back on these first two years, we are deeply grateful for everyone who has helped make this possible. We wouldn’t be here today if not for those who have given time, materials, financial support, encouragement, prayer, partnership, and care. We are also grateful for the guests who have trusted this place as part of their own journey toward rest and renewal.
We wanted to take a moment to share a little of the impact that our communal effort has had.
In the first two years, Three Oaks Cabin has become what so many people hoped it would be: a quiet place of refuge where farmers and first responders can rest, be supported, and, for many, take a step toward further care.
Since opening, the cabin has welcomed 114 first responders and 16 farmers and their respective families. As of May 2025, the cabin has been consistently booked at about 75–80% capacity.
We have also been encouraged to see how many guests are making use of the free therapy support available through the National Farmer Mental Health Alliance. Around 80% of guests have accessed this extra resource, and 60% of those shared that a meaningful relationship with a therapist would not likely have taken place if they had to initiate the conversation themselves.
We have also been reminded just how important timely support can be. In the first year of welcoming guests, at least four individuals indicated that, without assistance or intervention from Three Oaks or another provider, they may not have been with their families much longer.
That is a deeply sobering reality, and one we hold with great care. It is also a reminder of why spaces of refuge and support are so needed. We are very grateful for our relationship with the National Farmer Mental Health Alliance, the therapists and counsellors who support this work, and the wider community of people helping farmers and first responders receive the care they need.
One of the most meaningful parts of welcoming guests to Three Oaks has been reading the notes left behind in the cabin guest book.
We treasure these reflections with gratitude, and we share a few of them here as a reminder of what this place has meant to those who have stayed.
“Thank you for creating a space that holds people the way the world often can’t. No detail has been left out. This cabin offered more than comfort—it brought peace and quiet strength.”
To all our supporters, thank you again for your many contributions to make this resource possible. It truly is a privilege that together we have the opportunity to honour the farmers who feed us, and the first responders who keep our communities safe. To any farmer or first responder reading this, please know that people at Three Oaks and its supporting community deeply respects and appreciates you and your families, and are here for you in whatever meaningful way we are able to be.
We invite you to enjoy a quick tour through some recent photos of the cabin, and to stay tuned for news of our next fundraising events in the near future.
