While the building process has been slow these past few weeks because of all the rainfall we’ve had, Chatham RediMix was back on the scene recently to prepare the footings for the porch.
With a little imagination, you can almost hear the gentle creaking of the comfy rocking chair that will be placed on the screened in porch later this year. It’ll be the perfect place to listen to the birds singing their best songs while enjoying a good cup of coffee or tea. Those who come to enjoy the peace of that rocking chair and porch will be uplifted by the joyful sounds and fragrant smells coming from the nearby woodlot.
The log walls have been completed and we’ve tried to be patient while waiting for the ground around the building to dry up so we can start construction on the roof. Since the rain has not let up, we are expecting a crane later this week to complete that work. We want to keep the project moving forward, and hopefully the next pictures posted here will include a roof!
The building progress may have been slower than we hoped, but the woodland flowers did their part, and they are stunning! We look forward to sharing their beauty with all the guests who come to stay at the cabin next spring.
Although there was not as much progress as we had hoped for in the last month, the project is still moving forward. We are eternally grateful to each and everyone for their support, prayers, involvement and interest.
